Alexander the Great was a king of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon and a member of the Argead dynasty. He was a student of Aristotle at a young age and inherited the kingdom at the age of 20 after his father’s assassination. Alexander is a great conqueror, for most of his life, he led an unprecedented military campaign through Asia and northeast Africa, by the age of thirty he had created one of the largest empires of the ancient world. He was undefeated in battles and is considered one of history’s most successful military commanders. Alexander introduced the Greek influence to Asia and Egypt, at the time of his death his empire was the largest state of its time. He also founded more than twenty cities that bore his own name, the most well known was Alexandria in Egypt, which became the leading Mediterranean city. Hellenization, the spread of Greek language, culture, and population into the former Persian Empire is a result of Alexander’s conquest, some of the most pronounced effects of Hellenization can be seen in Afghanistan and India, which can be seen by the discovery of Greco-Buddhism statues and Indo-Greek arts.Product
