Description
Description
Evolving from the architectural tradition of the late Middle Ages, gargoyles were originally conceived as apotropaic figures intended to ward off malevolent spirits from sacred cathedrals, serving both as functional water spouts and symbolic guardians of the faith. This piece draws upon the iconography of Gothic revivalism, featuring a vigilant sentry perched atop a fortress while hooded, skeletal figures stand watch over the gates, echoing the macabre memento mori themes that flourished during the Black Death era. By merging the protective nature of cathedral grotesques with the imagery of the reaper, this work invokes the medieval preoccupation with the transition between the mortal and spiritual realms. It belongs to the themes of dark fantasy, gothic architecture, and medieval macabre, capturing the stoic, protective, and haunting atmosphere of an ancient, enchanted stronghold where the boundary between the living and the eternal is strictly maintained.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
