Honda Tadakatsu (本多 忠勝) was a prominent Japanese samurai and military commander during the Sengoku period (Warring States period) of Japan. He lived from 1548 to 1610 and served under the Tokugawa clan, one of the most powerful samurai families during that time. Tadakatsu is often remembered as one of the most skilled and legendary warriors of his era.
Here are some key points about Honda Tadakatsu:
Loyalty to Tokugawa: Tadakatsu was known for his unwavering loyalty to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate, which eventually unified Japan and brought an end to the Sengoku period. He served Ieyasu for most of his life and played a crucial role in many of Ieyasu's campaigns.
Battle Record: Honda Tadakatsu was a fearsome warrior on the battlefield and is said to have fought in over a hundred battles without ever being seriously wounded. This earned him the nickname "Honda, the Warrior who Surpasses Death" (死なずの本多).
Distinctive Armor: Tadakatsu is often depicted wearing an elaborate and distinctive set of armor known as the "Tadakatsu-style" armor. It was known for its intricate design and the iconic crescent-moon-shaped helmet crest.
Monumental Spear: He was renowned for his skill with the spear and wielded a massive spear called the "Tonbogiri," which means "Dragonfly Cutter." It is said that this spear was so sharp and powerful that it could cut through a dragonfly in mid-flight.
Retirement: Tadakatsu retired from active military service in 1600, following the Battle of Sekigahara, which resulted in Tokugawa Ieyasu's victory and the consolidation of his power. He retired with honor and lived out the rest of his days peacefully.
Death: Honda Tadakatsu passed away in 1610, having survived the tumultuous period of the Sengoku era. He is remembered as one of the greatest and most loyal warriors of his time.
Honda Tadakatsu's legacy endures in Japanese history and culture as a symbol of loyalty, martial prowess, and the samurai code. He is often featured in historical novels, films, video games, and other forms of media that depict Japan's feudal era.

Great item! Sales acted promptly when I asked about the whereabouts of my package.

Arrived when expected and the item is beautiful. Looks quality and great detail. It is a gift for someone and I don't think they'll be disappointed with it. Also, I had some concerns about delivery time as I was on a tight schedule but had plenty of communication with the seller and it was delivered by Royal Mail which was reassuring.

Made it all the way to USA in one piece. It’s fantastic. Better than expected and heavy. Little guys got some weight to him. Very happy with purchase.
