Description
Description
In Greek mythology, female centaurs, known as Centauride, are the counterparts to the more prominent male Centaur, appearing only rarely in ancient literary sources but more frequently in Greek art and later Roman mosaics. Early texts like Homer's Iliad and other archaic works focus almost exclusively on male centaurs as savage, beast-like figures without referencing females, suggesting the concept of Centaurides emerged later in classical and post-classical periods. The most notable literary mentions include the devoted Hylonome, wife of the centaur Cyllarus, described by Ovid in his Metamorphoses as exceptionally beautiful among centaur-girls and grief-stricken at her husband's death during the Centauromachy battle; and vivid descriptions by the 3rd-century CE rhetorician Philostratus the Elder in his Imagines, who praises their hybrid beauty, some emerging from white mares, others dappled or chestnut, while ostensibly describing ancient paintings. Overall, Centaurides symbolize a more graceful, familial aspect of the centaur tribe, contrasting the males' typical portrayal as violent and uncivilized.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
