Description
Description
The Craniumography Skull Map draws upon the Renaissance tradition of *memento mori*, inviting a profound reflection on the intersection of human mortality and the age of exploration. By mapping colonial expeditions—such as the 1525 voyage of Estêvão Gomes, the founding of Charlesfort in 1562, and early cartographic markers from the St. Lawrence River to Honduras—this piece evokes the transient nature of empire and the boundless ambition that drove navigators into the unknown. It serves as a visual bridge between the intimate landscape of the human body and the vast, often brutal, geography of the New World, reminding the viewer that even the most far-reaching territories are ultimately captured within the same cycle of time that governs all life. This work belongs to the thematic spheres of historical cartography, philosophical existentialism, and the macabre aesthetics of the early modern era.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
