Description
Description
Michelangelo’s masterpiece, realized between 1501 and 1504, captures the biblical hero David at the precise moment of psychological tension before his confrontation with Goliath. Departing from earlier iconographic traditions that depicted the victor after the battle, the Renaissance master instead focused on the intellectual resolve and physical readiness of the youth, embodying the humanist ideal of rational strength and divine confidence. The anatomy reflects a profound understanding of classical antiquity, where the contrapposto stance—characterized by a subtle shift in weight—suggests latent movement and internal vigilance. This figure belongs to the themes of Renaissance humanism, biblical heroism, classical idealization, and the exaltation of human potential.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
