Description
Description
Representing the Gorgon of Greek mythology, this visage captures the terrifying power of Medusa, whose gaze was once said to turn all who beheld her into stone. Historically known as the Gorgoneion, such depictions served an apotropaic function in the ancient world, intended to ward off evil and protect the bearer through the display of a formidable, supernatural entity. This interpretation draws upon classical iconography, emphasizing the snarling expression and the chaotic tangle of venomous serpents that replaced her hair as a curse from Athena. This piece belongs to the themes of classical antiquity, mythological symbolism, and protective talismans, reflecting a timeless fascination with the duality of beauty and horror found within the legends of the Hellenistic past.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
