Description
Description
Maman Brigitte stands as a formidable figure within the Vodou pantheon of Haiti, revered as the queen of the Gede, or the spirits of the dead. As the consort of Baron Samedi, she is unique in her origins, often interpreted as the syncretic evolution of the Irish goddess Brigid, brought to the Caribbean through the cultural crucible of the colonial era. Typically depicted as a woman with a fiery temperament and a penchant for hot peppers and rum, she is the guardian of the final resting place, presiding over cemeteries and the souls interred therein. Her presence is invoked to protect the gravesites and to intercede in matters of life, death, and healing, bridging the gap between the ancestral spirits and the living. This representation embodies themes of ancestral reverence, the cycle of mortality, Caribbean folklore, and the dark, majestic aesthetic of the occult.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
