Description
Description
Tracing its lineage back to the ancient Near Eastern mythologies of the goddess Atargatis, the mermaid has long captured the human imagination as a symbol of the untamable ocean and the intersection of the earthly and the divine. This portrayal captures the quintessential siren in a moment of repose, echoing the classical artistic tradition of the reclining female figure that has been reimagined from Hellenistic sculptures to Romantic period maritime art. By evoking the dual nature of these aquatic beings—who are simultaneously seen as harbingers of storms and manifestations of ethereal beauty—this piece serves as an exploration of the folklore surrounding the mysteries of the deep. Centered on themes of maritime lore, mythological symbolism, and feminine mystery, this evocative figure invites reflection on the enduring allure of the sea's hidden inhabitants.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
