Description
Description
The iconography of the Nativity scene, or crèche, finds its historical roots in the 13th century, most notably through the efforts of Saint Francis of Assisi, who sought to make the mystery of the Incarnation tangible for the faithful. These figures reflect the traditional tableau of the adoration, capturing the humble witnesses present at the birth of the Christ child. The presence of the ox and the ass draws from medieval exegesis—specifically interpretations of Isaiah 1:3—which suggests that while the people of Israel did not know their Lord, these creatures of the field recognized the divinity within the manger. Kneeling in prayer, the shepherd represents the simple and marginalized who were the first to receive the angelic annunciation, grounding the spiritual event in a poignant, pastoral reality. This ensemble belongs to the rich tradition of religious art and seasonal devotion, serving as a contemplative centerpiece for themes of reverence, humility, and the quiet awe of the Christmas story.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
