Description
Description
This composition follows the established tradition of the Eastern Orthodox three-bar cross, reflecting the Byzantine iconography that has shaped Slavic devotional art for centuries. The top bar traditionally represents the titulus, or the sign bearing the inscription "King of Glory," while the slanted bottom bar serves as the suppedaneum, or footrest, which symbolically points toward the repentant thief in paradise and the unrepentant in descent. Central to the narrative is the triumphant yet suffering figure of the Messiah, flanked by the mourning figures of the Virgin Mary and Saint John the Apostle, while the lower registers incorporate the somber imagery of Adam’s skull at Golgotha, signifying the redemption of humanity. Belonging to themes of Eastern Orthodox devotion, liturgical history, and the theology of the passion, this piece serves as a visual bridge between the earthly realm and the divine kingdom, inviting deep contemplation of the narrative of salvation.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
