Description
Description
Our Lady of Charity, also known as Nuestra Señora de la Caridad del Cobre or simply Cachita, is the patroness of Cuba. Visually, she is often depicted as a dark-skinned Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child and is frequently shown standing on a crescent moon in front of a golden background with vibrant colors. She is associated with charity, motherhood, and love, and is invoked for assistance with difficulties and challenges. Many believers show a strong devotion to Our Lady of Charity and she is proudly honored as an important symbol of Cuban national identity and religious belief. She finds her place of reverence in the El Cobre Basilica, a popular pilgrimage site in Santiago de Cuba, where many come to venerate her and ask for her assistance.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
