Description
Description
The figure of the Reaper of the Night draws upon the perennial human fascination with the inevitability of mortality, a motif deeply embedded in European art since the late Middle Ages. During the era of the Black Death, the personification of Death—often depicted as a skeletal figure wielding a scythe—evolved from a mere religious warning into a complex cultural icon known as the *Danse Macabre*, symbolizing the great equalizer that transcends all social hierarchies. By pairing the traditional instrument of harvest with the wings of a fallen celestial being and the nocturnal imagery of bats, this representation invokes the gothic romanticism of the nineteenth century, where darkness and decay were aestheticized to explore the sublime terrors of the afterlife. Belonging to the thematic realms of Gothic horror, memento mori, and dark fantasy, this piece captures the solemn transition between the earthly realm and the unknown shadows beyond.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
