Description
Description
The devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus traces its profound origins to the visions of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, a 17th-century French Visitation nun who reported personal revelations of Christ’s burning love for humanity. This iconic representation, characterized by the exposed, flaming heart encircled by thorns, emerged as a central pillar of Catholic spirituality, symbolizing divine compassion, unconditional mercy, and the visceral nature of sacrificial love. Historically, the imagery gained widespread liturgical significance following the official institution of the Feast of the Sacred Heart by Pope Pius IX in 1856, cementing its role as a powerful meditative focus for the faithful. This piece belongs to the themes of Christian iconography, spiritual devotion, religious heritage, and the theological exploration of divine grace and human redemption.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
