Description
Description
This piece serves as a striking manifestation of the Industrial Revolution’s late-Victorian obsession with the synthesis of human anatomy and mechanical ingenuity, evoking the era's fascination with anatomical studies and the burgeoning power of steam-driven technology. By melding the traditional memento mori—a symbol used since antiquity to contemplate the transience of life—with the complex, brass-cogged aesthetic of speculative Victorian fiction, the artifact illustrates the period's anxiety regarding the encroaching automation of the modern world. It belongs to the steampunk and gothic industrial movements, reflecting an aesthetic philosophy that reimagines historical technological progress through a lens of dark romanticism and speculative science, where the internal workings of the mind are replaced by the rhythmic, pressurized exhaust of an ironworks factory.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
