Description
Description
The name "tarantula" finds its historical roots in the southern Italian town of Taranto, where the bite of the local wolf spider was once believed to cause tarantism, a hysterical condition marked by an uncontrollable urge to dance. Folklore suggested that the only remedy for this supposed affliction was the frantic, rhythmic motion of the tarantella, a folk dance that became deeply embedded in the cultural identity of the region. This piece captures that same sense of primal fascination and uneasy beauty associated with the arachnid, exploring themes of natural history, the macabre, and the intersection of human mythology with the wild. By immortalizing the creature amidst the botanical elements of the forest floor, it invites reflection on our enduring, complex relationship with the natural world and the stories we weave around its most misunderstood inhabitants.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
