Description
Description
This depiction of the Theotokos, or "God-bearer," draws upon the rich iconographic traditions of Byzantine art, specifically evoking the Hodegetria type, which identifies the Virgin Mary as the one who points the way to Christ. Her solemn gaze and the gentle cradling of the Christ Child, who is flanked by archangels bearing the instruments of the Passion, serve as a profound theological meditation on the incarnation and divine sacrifice. The elaborate filigree borders and the stylized floral patterns reflecting imperial majesty elevate the composition beyond mere portraiture, transforming it into a window into the divine realm. Themes of sacred devotion, liturgical reverence, and the historical continuity of Eastern Orthodox spirituality permeate every detail, inviting contemplation of the profound connection between the human and the celestial.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
