Description
Description
"The Last Supper," a masterpiece by Leonardo da Vinci, painted between 1495 and 1498, graces the refectory wall of the Santa Maria delle Grazie monastery in Milan, Italy, capturing the poignant moment when Jesus announces his impending betrayal during his final meal with the Twelve Apostles. This monumental mural, measuring about 15 by 29 feet, uses an experimental tempera-on-dry-plaster technique that allowed da Vinci to infuse vivid emotion and detail—though it led to early deterioration—depicting each apostle’s unique reaction, from shock to denial, around a serene Christ at the center. Set against a simple backdrop with converging perspective lines that draw the eye to Jesus, the painting symbolizes sacrifice, fellowship, and the institution of the Eucharist, blending Renaissance humanism with spiritual depth. Its innovative composition, psychological insight, and dramatic storytelling revolutionized art, though centuries of damage from humidity, war, and neglect have spurred extensive restoration efforts. Today, "The Last Supper" remains a cultural icon, endlessly studied and revered for its artistic genius and religious significance.

Care
Care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
