West Highland White Terrier Sitting

Originating from the rugged landscapes of Scotland, the West Highland White Terrier was selectively bred by Colonel Edward Donald Malcolm of Poltalloch in the late 19th century. Developed to assist in hunting vermin, this spirited breed was intentionally distinguished by its bright coat to ensure visibility against the dark, rocky terrain during the hunt. This representation captures the quintessential alert and cheerful temperament of the "Westie," an enduring icon of Scottish heritage that transitioned from a specialized working dog into a beloved companion esteemed for its bold personality and unwavering loyalty. Reflecting themes of British heritage, canine companionship, and the rustic charm of rural life, this piece celebrates the distinctive traits that have solidified the breed’s popularity across the globe for over a century.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. For bronze and metal pieces, an occasional light coat of wax or polish helps preserve the finish. Porcelain and glass items should be hand-cleaned gently to protect painted or gilded details.
