"Everyman Dies, Not Every Man Really Lives" - Sir William Wallace. Sir William Wallace was a Scottish knight who became one of the main leaders during the Wars of Scottish independence. Born of a lesser nobility, not much is known about Wallace beyond his military campaigns and the later days of his life, his most famous victory came in the First War of Scottish Independence during the Battle of Stirling Bridge, where Wallace and Andrew Moray defeated the English army while being vastly outnumbered. Wallace was eventually captured by the English and sentenced to public execution, the brutal execution of William Wallace was seen by the Scots as martyrdom and fueled the fight for Scottish independence after his death, Wallace has since been remembered as one of Scotland’s greatest heroes.
