God of Light and Purity: Baldr is primarily known as the god of light, purity, and beauty. He embodies goodness and is often associated with the concept of innocence.
Son of Odin and Frigg: Baldr is the son of Odin, the chief of the Norse gods, and Frigg, the queen of the Aesir. He is a member of the Aesir, one of the two main groups of gods in Norse mythology.
Invulnerability: Baldr was believed to be invulnerable to harm, thanks to a vow his mother Frigg had obtained from all living creatures and objects, promising not to harm him. This made him a symbol of purity and invincibility.
Death and Resurrection: Despite his invulnerability, Baldr's death is a central event in Norse mythology. Loki, the trickster god, tricked Baldr's blind brother, Höðr, into shooting an arrow made of mistletoe at Baldr, which was the only thing that could harm him. Baldr died from this wound.
Grieving and Mourning: Baldr's death brought great sadness to the gods and goddesses. They attempted to retrieve him from the realm of the dead, and his death became a catalyst for the events leading to Ragnarök, the Norse apocalypse.
